I don’t want to teach yoga – is this program good for me?
Yes! The Yoga College program is a transformational and profound exploration of yoga, philosophy, psychology, wellness, and health. Whether you want to share your inspiration and wisdom through teaching or not, it will be a life-affirming experience.
I want to teach yoga – will I be able to once I complete the program? Is this program Yoga Alliance approved?
The AYI Yoga College program is an approved 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program through the Yoga Alliance. While we’ve found that students tend to be ready to lead top-notch classes upon graduation, we maintain the right to withhold certifications until the standards set forth by the Yoga Alliance are met. We want every trainee to be magnificently successful and will continue working with trainees until certified (note that we have never had to withhold a certification).
How proficient in yoga do I have to be? How much yoga experience do I need?
The main goal of the Yoga College program is to provide a profound, deep, and structured yoga educational experience. This program is ideal for any student seeking transformation and accountability, and who is ready to plunge into living yoga, on and off the mat. That said, you need only have a strong desire to learn, explore, and grow! Please note, we will not issue a teaching certification until the trainee is deemed ready to teach – those newer to yoga asana may need some extra structured learning and practice before receiving a teaching
certification (in our two years of running this program, we have never withheld a certification).
What style of yoga is The Ayurveda and Yoga Institute’s Yoga College?
The most successful, inspirational, skilled, and loved yoga instructors’ teachings are extensions of their personalities. For that reason, we provide the setting, time, practice, education, feedback, and encouragement for you to cultivate YOUR unique style!
What if I can’t do all the poses? Will I be able to complete the program if I have an injury or special condition?
While there will be yoga asana practice regularly throughout the program, we encourage you to honor yourself, your body,
and your experience. You will learn modifications to make the poses accessible and beneficial to your body regardless of injury
or special conditions. Plus, the diversity of many body types, ages, genders, and physical abilities provides an invaluable
teaching tool to your classmates.
Is there an age limit?
Yoga College is open to any student aged sixteen or older. Younger students will be considered on an individual basis.
“I have wanted to get my 200-hour yoga certification for many years but I had trouble finding a studio that provided you with the tools to teach more than just an exercise class. I chose to do my Yoga Teacher Training at the Ayurveda and Yoga Institute because of the overwhelming sense of community and support I had felt there from the very beginning.”
Yoga College has helped me in every aspect of my life and I can genuinely say it has changed my life for the better. Dan and the other instructors at AYI help guide you and provide you with support and knowledge to lead a healthier life full of love, compassion, and mindfulness.”
Kara, Yoga College Class of 2018
“The nature of AYI teachings and philosophy have pushed me beyond my comfortable borders. Everyday is a memorable adventure having expanded from what has held me back in the past. This is literally the science of life”
Victoria, Yoga College Class of 2016
“Yoga teacher training at AYI is nothing short of life changing! The program is AMAZING and the staff are extraordinary! Far beyond my expectations of yoga teacher training, it’s an opportunity to dust off the heart, declutter the mind, and glimpse at a true understanding of the Self. It’s a chance to really explore and reassess ourselves, expand beyond what we thought were limits or stuck patterns, and rediscover (and heal) ourselves-ALL within the sanctuary of a new family of supportive and fun friends! Exciting challenges, possibilities, and depths of the body/mind connection are available and certainly accessible! It’s a BRILLIANT training and an experience for which I am TRULY grateful! And the Litvins are exceptional people! Just Breathe…and DO IT!”
John, Yoga College Class of 2018
“There is no reason not to get trained to teach yoga, even if you are not planning on being a teacher because there are so many things that you can continue learning. This just scrapes the surface of the things that you are going to learn about yourself, about other people, about this beautiful history, and if you are even a little bit curious, join the adventure.”
Brie, Yoga College Class of 2016
“I would recommend it to everyone and anyone. I don’t think most people spend much time looking at what’s going on ‘in here’ which is what yoga is.”
Rachel, Yoga College Class of 2017
“100% go through with it, even if you are not planning on teaching yoga long term. It changed my whole life, it didn’t just change my career path. It can only be beneficial, and if you decide to go through with the training, go through with your full heart and an unbiased mind. Go with the flow.”
Jason, Yoga College Class of 2016
“Joining the Yoga College program at AYI never felt like a decision, it felt like a gentle but persistent invitation to come home that I accepted (even though I had no idea what that home would be like or who would become my new family). There’s a magic in this community that is impossible to ignore. Everyone was drawn here for the same purpose: transformation. While we initially sought transformation within, through the program it has become apparent how our individual journeys of healing directly help transform the lives of those around us. If you’re unsure whether you are ready to do this for yourself, consider doing it for those you will be better able to serve by discovering your highest potential.”
